We tried using different colours for our portraits and moving some of the features of on our faces, just like Picasso did!
Welcome to our blog. We are a Year 2/3 class. We will use this blog to share what we are doing in our classroom with our families. Our teacher will also add links to websites related to what we are learning

Picasso inspired self-portraits
We have been looking at the work of a Spanish artist called Pablo Picasso. He was very interested in colour, and how different colours can make us feel different ways. He also said that paintings didn't have to look like photographs, that you could use your imagination to see things differently. Here are a few of his portraits...

Seasons Art
We are learning 'Time and Temperature' for Maths.
To fit in with our learning about the seasons, we created some beautiful artwork.
This artwork took us ALL day to complete.
Mrs Hastings was so proud of our commitment to our work and how hard we worked on them. We have learnt that there is a process when creating a good quality piece of artwork.
First we coloured in the tree with brown pastel. Then Mrs Hastings cut our art into quarters....we were horrified with this!
As a class we discussed the seasons and decided on the order of the seasons.
Before we turned each quarter into a season, we discussed what happens to the trees in that season.
We created one season at a time, drawing how we see trees in that season with pastels.
Then we discussed the temperature within each season and what colours we think of when we have those seasons and temperatures. We used those colours to dye the backgrounds.
Here is our amazing artwork! You can click on the picture to make it bigger.

Calendar Art
Here is our calendar art for this year! If yours is not on here, it is because it is not quite finished.
We have used our artwork from our inquiry unit on Pop Art.
Order forms will come home this week!
We also have a folder of our art in class.
