We have changed our room!

On Friday we decided it was time for a change. We talked about how we could change our classroom's seating plan. Some of us like working with others and were using the wooden table together. We decided to put this in the middle of the room! Our desks now sit around it. We are in a big square 'U'.

We like this set up. We can have whole class discussions while sitting in our desks. If our learning allows working with others, some of us choose to sit at the wooden table. Some of us prefer to sit at our own desks and work independently.

In these pictures we are working in our inquiry booklets. We are starting a KWL chart about 'droughts'.

Congratulations Hudson! You took control of your own learning this week. After learning about the water cycle this week, you chose the best way to present your new learning in your inquiry booklet. Beautifully presented too!

Remembering the School Holidays

We read this poem called 'Remembering Summer' by Sharon Holt from the School Journal.  Now Autumn is here and we are stuck in school, we starting remembering our school holidays.  We used this poem as a model for our own writing but changed the heading, first and last sentences so our poems are about 'Remembering the School Holidays'.  Click on our poems to enlarge them.

Maths Games

We have been learning about rounding in Maths this week. We were introduced to new maths games where we can practise our rounding strategy. We are using our 'Relating to Others' skills where we can successfully work with other children in our class to solve problems.
